Biological Surveys, Assessment, and preparation of PEA for SCE’s Santa Barbara County Reliability Project

Southern California Edison (2004-2014)

BRC conducted an assessment of all sensitive biological resources along the existing and proposed transmission line corridor in northern Ventura and southern Santa Barbara Counties, intended to provide the necessary reliability to meet electrical demands of the southern coast of Santa Barbara County when the 220 kV lines are out of service, while also enhancing operational flexibility.  BRC prepared portions of a Proponent’s Environmental Assessment on behalf of SCE for submission to the California Public Utilities Commission.  Post PEA development, BRC continued to support the project with ongoing rare plant, nesting raptor, and burrowing owl surveys, and the native tree inventory.
